Please reach us at info@trinitylearningconnection.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We are not a school, we are a resource for homeschool families. Our classes are virtual, so we are anywhere you have internet access. However, our Face to Face activities are currently only offered in the Indy area.
No, but you will probably want to at least live in the state of Indiana to participate in Face to Face Friday events.
We offer a variety of high school core and elective courses. Please see our courses page for a complete list of our current course offerings.
Prices vary depending on the type of class and length. Please see the pricing section on our courses page for more details. There is no fee to join, and no registration fees, you only pay for courses that you take.
There will be 2 types of classes offered.
1. Live classes: a live teacher will teach via our platform once a week. Then enrichments (a.k.a. assignments) for the remainder of the week will be assigned by the teacher. As homeschooling parents you decide what enrichments you want your students to complete. However, if you would like your teacher to assign a grade, your student will need to complete and submit all enrichments. Feedback will be given quarterly to all and grades for those who take part in that aspect.
2. Independent Study classes: These classes will have a weekly pre-recorded lesson. Your student will not have a live class, which leaves lots of room for flexibility on your part, but they will be expected to engage weekly via our chat feature. Enrichments and grades will work the same as live classes.
Full-year classes will be 32 weeks and semester classes will be 16 weeks. You are able to enroll in one class or many, and bundles are offered at a discounted price.
No problem. Every live class is recorded and available for 7 days from the date of the recording. Please be sure you can view the recording within the 7 days as they automatically delete from our platform and we cannot retrieve them.
Parents will need to purchase any curriculum and or materials required for the class. For example, a specific text will be required for some classes. You will be able to see this information in the class description.
The program will provide an instructor and enrichments (assignments) for each week, feedback (grades option), supplemental digital material and more…
We cannot offer dual credit, but we do want to support families in finding dual credit options that work for their students who are ready for that journey. We will at the very least have a list of resources for our families.
We hope to grow to many teachers one day, but for now we are keeping it small. You will be able to read bio's on all of the teachers on our About Us page. Please know that it is our goal to have content experts. Our definition of an expert is someone who has one or more of the following: is or was a certified teacher, has a degree in the subject matter they are teaching, has long-term real-life experience in the subject matter they are teaching.
Our Face to Face Friday option is going to be our version of extracurricular events. Those will include the following things: Field Studies, Food Studies, Community Service, and Just for Fun days! We are also going to have a list of resources for our families for things such as: sports teams, 4H, Robotics, Drama, Dances, etc... We also plan to have a graduation ceremony and reception for our Seniors each year!
No, but we do strongly encourage it if you are local.
We do not have a specific curriculum. This will be up to each teacher. Our teachers will be teaching from a biblical perspective. More information can be found on the courses page in the course descriptions.
Class sizes will be between 4 and 15 students with each teacher deciding the specific minimum and max between those numbers.
Yes, yes, yes we work with struggling learners. That is my personal passion, and I will strive to bring teachers alongside me that I believe can meet all learners where they are.
Each teacher will hold office hours in which he/she will be available via our chat feature or email to answer questions. It will be up to each teacher if they offer live help outside of class. The teachers are welcome to use our platform or their own for this. The fee for additional tutoring will also be set by the teacher.
We will strive to not fall into the trap of trends. We will teach students the material laid out in the course syllabus. We are going to be working with teenagers, so if controversial topics arise, we will happily engage with them in meaningful discussions about the topic. We will try to help our students see a biblical perspective and recognize fact vs opinion. We will encourage them to respect other's beliefs but to confidently and intelligently stand by what they believe.
We expect parents to be an active part of their teen's education. We will only have them one day a week, and even though we will assign work for the remainder of the week, we hope that parents will still come alongside their students to check for understanding, help them manage their time, etc. Ultimately, parents are always the final say in their child's education. If you think the workload we are assigning is too heavy feel free to adjust, if you feel it's too light feel free to add on. On Fridays, we will require that an adult be present and taking responsibility for the their student (parents can share this responsibility if they so choose). If there are situations where we are limited on space, we will ask for a limited number of parent volunteers.
We expect students to come to class, have their cameras on (this is for the safety of all the students), be an active part of the class, and be respectful of the other students and teacher. Your students are high schoolers, we will encourage them to reach out to us if they need help. Parents are always welcome to contact us, but it is our goal to prepare them to navigate the world as confident adults.
